Vinny,

The only magician who I believe holds this extremely prestigious title is the Frenchman Robert-Houdin

Here´s a post of mine:

Could you define what you meant by modern magic. As compared to lets say not modern magic.

Do you mean a "BIG" Harry Blackstone type show or the use of music and danceas in Doug Henning or "special I'm doing magic" like Blaine. Or small but skillful close-up like Don Alan???

I would say from the the last 100 years, what magician in your opinion stands alone with this title .
stage, parlour, closup up

I could say Enrico Fermi is the father of the atomic bomb but this doesent mean he invented it.....but with put him there would be none
if this makes sense

My vote goes for Don Alan, the most Ripped-off performaer in magic.

Just the last 100 years?

Blackstone Sr., Dante or Thurston; most illusion shows have been based on theirs.

You'd be best to list something on the order of the founding fathers of magic.

Of course, if you were to ask who is the godfather of magic there is only one answer!

Blindbo I must ask this question who is the GODFATHER of magic ......
you have three guess but the first two are wrong.....

I would have to sat Slydini is the master of closeup but not the father of modern magic..
.mo wait how about the Harlem magicians I think Earvin played for them as well.

Modern ... that is very difficult.

I would put Fred Kaps there, or somewhere close to there.

Not as an innovator or technician or "clever guy" but instead as a model of what a magician can be to his audiences and within our community.
