I don't see a direct domain name link? such as http://www.mydomain.com will go directly to your hosting area? or is is a sub domain, http://www.themagiccafe.com/mydomain/ ?
This is important aspect of domain names. I read the above and maybe I missed it. If it is direct, then $5.00 is a really great deal and I'll refer others to you.

Den, I am not sure who you were addressing your query to?
The Café deal that I had before I upgraded to GMB's regular offer, allowed me to put my domain, http://www.ezymagic.com/ up with them. It was addressed directly. I think the deal even allowed for a couple of subdomains off that. The regular deal allows asmany subdomains as your generous bandwidth allocation can handle and very low charge for excess (which I am far from reaching even though i have 3 domains on the one account). I am rapt about this and more so after Mary took the trouble to answer my query to their Forum where I specifically said "No rush" and meant it. I ahve had great hosts and so I have high benchmarks to judge their service against. There are some very good deals out there but this is as good as I have seen, especially if you want mini-sites and sub-domains. I would be happy to answer just about any questions through private email but I have always had clear answers from Mary and gene even before I signed up with them and they are enormously helpful. I have no commercial connection, just a happy user.

Our Café offer is for virtual domain hosting. This means that http://www.mydomain.com will go right to your upload files. There is no redirect of any kind. I'm not sure what you mean by "direct domain name link" Den.
The Café plan we offer isn't part of the Café domain, it's totally separate - as are all of the domains we host. If you have the site http://www.mydomain.com, then that would be your address. It wouldn't have anything to do with themagiccafe.com. If you were to set your own subdomain, then that would be something like mysubdomain.mydomain.com. I hope that clears it up? If not, just let us know and we'd be happy to answer any questions you have.
Somebody kick me off the computer, will ya?

Gentlemen, you ain't seen nothing until you sign up.
Ask Gene and Mary very politely and they might send you a pdf manual for their system. It just appeared like Magic ;o) The service I got when I took up the Café special deal was so good that I brought my 3 sites on to the GMBWebworks regular deal (just one low charge each month!). And I had good deals and service/support with my previous hosts without exception. I also got some questions answered clearly, promptly and fully even before I signed up for the Café deal. My advice, JUMP IN now.

It's alive!
The New Nearly Normal Website is up at www.nearlynormalmagic Thanks to The Magic Café The Nearly Normal Magician has also taken advantage of this great service. Mary and Gene have been very easy to work with. My web designers are very creative artist and webdesigners. I did not have to understand what Mary and Gene quickly sent me. Erich and Cathy of the Inventing Room did. To see the combination of their work and Gene and Mary's hosting got to http://www.nearlynormalmagic.com This association is a win/win/win/win Harris

Verio (UK) charge me £120 a year for hosting (convert that to dollars), with only 10mb available. But am paid up now for all 2003. Verio however do guarantee almost 100% uptime (I have attached an Internetseer to the site which bears this out).

Just wondering, but can your users shell to their account, or is everything done by FTP?
I frequently write my own perl scripts and set up my own mysql tables from inside mysql, and it's alot easier to see errors and such right from the shell, rather than get an error message from IE when trying to debug. |

For security reasons, we do not allow shell access, but you do have access to the error logs through the control panel.

Is it a continuous rate, or does it change to regular?
I currently use Tripod(mostly because they are well known) and I was thinking about switching to iPower Web but this sounds excellant! I wish I could have seen this post a couple of months ago, I never would have dealt with Tripod(designed for completely computer illiterate people with lots of money ) Jakks |

The $5.00/month ($6.00/month if paying through PayPal) rate stays the same - unless you decide you want to upgrade to the "regular" hosting plan.

GMB has been hosting my site, http://www.ewmagic.com, for about 3 months now. I cannot believe the service and how friendly everybody is! Mary also personally helped me get my site up and running for a long time while I was learning to upload files myself.
BTW Mary, I FINALLY learned a really easy way to upload files. I do it through the file manager in the cpanal, and now I do not need to deal with any other programs! Thanks for all the help learning!!! Regards, Evan |

I can only echo the other endorsements here for both the offer and the excellent service.
I have 2 sites hosted in the one (regular, formerly Café special) account with gene and Mary. They're great to deal with. Awesome

I really have to add to the praise here because having tried a couple of other "big name" providers I can definitely say that Mary and Gene offer a *far* better service at a lower price. They also gave me a good tip for the domain registrar so I saved there too!
Besides, the only two or three times I asked for help by email the answer came so fast it was almost like chatting! I cannot praise GMB WebWorks enough, thanks GMB for a wonderful service!
