Has anyone heard anything about a new DVD coming out by a guy called Romaine? I think it's about manipulation.
And do you know this Romaine? Thanks for the info.

Yes, he is from Montreal. He has some good material, but unfortunately I cannot comment on the DVD(s) as I do not know the content. Ronnie Lemieux Montreal Canada

Oh and the full title is
Romaine : Monarch of the Manipulators 2 DVD set DVD I : Card Manipulation DVD II : Billiard Ball Manipulation The DVDs contain the film of his show, and then Romaine demonstrating for the video....apparently billiard ball manipulation here does not use shell/gimmicked balls.....should be interesting to see |

In case you have not heard of Romaine, his "Super Vanish" is featured on Jeff McBride's "World Class Manipulation vol3"

It's a good DVD set. I'm not a billiard ball man, so I only viewed Disk 2 once. (Re. billiard balls, he does use a shell during his routine, but generally, his routine involves producing/vanishing/switching balls.
He's a better performer than he is a teacher. There are times that he seems uncomfortable speaking on camera. His act is done without speaking, and his stage persona is that of a drunk. He does a great job looking surprised at each new card production. Despite what I said above - suggesting that his teaching isn't as good as his performance - let me add that he does explain his moves fairly well. Some of his card productions are real knuckle-busters. He does a lot of split fan productions that make my hands sore just watching. He also pauses a number of times on the disks to share some of his thoughts on performing: the aesthetics and etiquette and whatnot. All in all, I enjoyed it. But for someone wanting to learn manipulation skills, I'd probably lean toward DVDs of Jeff Sheridan or Jeff McBride. |

I have six locks on my door all in a row. When I go out, I only lock every other one. I figure no matter how long somebody stands there picking the locks, they are always locking three. Elayne Boosler
