Hi everyone

I am looking for a supply of long nails (9 inch minimum, 12 inch prefferably), for a bed of nails. I don't know about anywhere else but they sure seem hard to come by here in the UK!

Does anyone have any potential leads, prefferably here, but in the US might be my only hope.

Cheers

What you are looking for is gutter nails. I'll look for an US source. Here they are easy to get... In a nailboard, the length makes them unstable...

There is a rock band called "Nine Inch Nails"...I'll bet they would know.

Thanks for the help Slim, and for the bad joke Regan Smile

From what I can gather they are much easier to come by in the US, most of your houses being made of wood. In the UK most houses are brick, so long nails are much harder to come by. Gutters here are attached with screws or shorter nails. No gutter spikes at all a far as I can tell.

If I have to I will order from the US, but I suspect the postage would be huge.

Cheers

The nails aint cheap either. Hows about cutting 3/8th steel rod to length then turn them on a grinder till "blunt" although they would have no heads for a one off they should hold with a thick (Very thick base)To stop the wobble. Should work out a lot cheaper. Why 12" nails 6" seems plenty long enough for effect and I have a Diamond model you can borrow.

Hi Ken

I might go with the rods idea, I might also give myself a kick for not thinking of it!

Now all I need is a grider, they sell them at Macro for 20 quid too, not the best on the market for sure, but good enough for this job Smile

Cheers

Hi
Cut them quickly to length with bolt croppers, cut on the angle 45 degrees.
