Did anyone read the WWE RAW magazine article with Criss Angel? He talks all kinds of stuff. He would take Blaine on any day and stuff. Pretty weird.
Check it out. Smile

I wonder what Criss has up his sleeve? There have been postings everywhere today about him.

In the "All Tied Up" section there is a posting under the thread, "Underwater Escapes" about a (sorry but I have no better term to use here) Blaine style public stunt.

This stunt info has been popping up all over the internet!

IMO Criss is better than Blaine, however public appeal might be dampered by the Goth motif.

Magic Times, http://www.magictimes.com , has pretty good spread on the Criss Angel stunt.

I like Criss's shtick, having said that I wouldn't mind him giving Mr. Blaine a bit of a run. The percieved competion has sort of a Golden Age feel about it.

I have seen Criss Angel and his stunts in person. I was not particulary impressed. What impressed me the most was his ability to stay underwater for 24 hours and still have some skin left.

His escape and the whole setup wasn't too impressive.

But again, this was just yet another STUNT. Magicians doing Stunts. What next? Smile

I think that the whole "I can take on Blaine anyday" is not needed and just tries to contribute to the "Blaine Bashing" to make himself look good.

David Blaine is much more than just Stunts. So I don't think Criss Angel should play only that angle. As a performer, Angel is good (MindFreak) so I wouldn't just throw him out.

I just don't think he should be bashing and challenging Blaine. Blaine is doing his own thing. He's not saying that he is "THE BEST" he's just doing his thing.

It will be interesting though to see how this plays out. Criss Angel has yet another stunt planned, which is supposed to be a nod to Houdini.

We'll see. I'm sure I would have been more impressed with Houdini's 1 minute escape underwater than I was with Angel's 24 hours underwater and then an escape.

Good points. Got to maintain a good sense humor about it though with all the huge egos flying around.

"Criss Angel" Now Appearing in "MindFreak" as "The Human Prune"! Smile

Criss Angel definitely brings a different edge to magic, IMO. He looks like the magical version of Marilyn Manson to me. He looks like he's going to get some big publicity, at least. I've never seen him at all, but on our local news channel, when they were talking about his underwater stunt, they started by saying "Move over Houdini . . ."
So he's definitely got hype going for him. To be promoted by the WWE is a good thing, too. Is his Mindfreak show coming on TV any time soon? It seems like I read that somewhere. I'd like to see the kind of stuff he does.
Wait a second, let me correct that. I did see him once doing a version of Metamorphosis where he didn't throw a cover up ; he just sort of changed while some fireworks were shooting off. I guess it was pretty spiffy. I'd still like to see the rest of his show, though.

Those TV idiots! I know we all know that a comment like "move over Houdini..." is nothing but dumb, lazy television "journalism." Criss Angel isn't going to ever make Houdini "move over" or anything else, and neither is Blaine. Gawd! Also, "Mindfreak," I heard, won't be on television any time soon because it's still enjoying a pretty good run on Broadway. That's not 100 percent, mind you, but just something I heard. Generally you won't see a Broadway show on television whilst it's still enjoying a good Broadway run, for fear that the widespread television exposure and possibly horrible treatment by the medium will ruin the public's enthusiasm for the show.

I agree that Criss is better. He's my inspiration and kind of what got me started on this whole thing, so I'm a bit biased, but I don't think the "goth motif" hurts at all.

At the *very* least, it looks good on him... heh. I can't help it. I'm only female, right? Smile

I think his ego may have gotten just a little too big for his body. And challenging Blaine is more of a publicity stunt than any other kind. By the way, mattneufeld, Criss did put his "Mindfreak" special on television in October. It was on Fox Family channel in the USA. As far as I know it's still on Broadway.

Unless working as a professional wrestler, I loose respect for any performer, in any profession who wants to "take on another" performer in same field. Impotent protests and efforts to prove themselves the best.
What a waste.

I didn't hear Criss was protesting anything. Er, could you explain more clearly what you meant, Randy? I'm slightly confused.

Ooops sorry for the confusion IceRaven.
Agreed with you that I'm uncertain if these two great talents remain mortal enemies and speak negatively of each other. I haven't come across such but then again I haven't really followed their careers much.
I tend to voluntarily find the unique qualities in any performer (musicians, actors, public personality, and yes magicians). So to watch any two great performers, especially my favorites, get in to a personal battle over who's better and who can outdo who is a waste of time. They are all very unique to me and each capable of doing what no other can.

'Tis all. Smile

Confusion's gone now. Thanks. Smile I tend to think their "battle" is more of a publicity stunt than anything else. Trying to compare one performer to another is like trying to compare apples and oranges- one can't be better than another because there are usually very few similarities. I guess IMO neither one can really "win" over another. I also haven't heard any challenges made from one performer to another.

Criss angel, is one of the most creative guys in magic. He is one step forward!
He is the only magician that won the "magician of the year" award 2 times!
I Think he is the future of magic.
Kind Regards,
JP

If anyone here had the sponsers, endorsments, or cash, I think we all could buy miltiple props and tantalize the media with our own version of the "supernatural". But mind you, getting to a big stage is a hard feat. And as far as criss and david being magicians extrordanaire, Each of us has our own talents and gifts as far as performing goes. They just have money available to expand their immaginations. Remember also something wich I respect about both of them, is that they HAVE made it to the big stage.
