Does anyone have this that could give a review...Is this just a write up of the jonah card or is it something special...what do you recieve with this..( the cards, insturctions, special gimmick )?
Just wondering as I have Johnny Thompsons routine for this on one of his DVDs and it is really good. But I love this trick and I know Tim is a great thinker.
Tim know your a member here at the Café, how about some more info.

I love the Ten Card Poker Deal, so I've been trying to think of a variation for years.

Sue-Anne made a valid point about the basic routine: Magician beats spectator repeatedly. What spectator would enjoy watching such a trick? So we decided the routine should be three phase: The first two poker hands, the magician lets the spectator win - just as a con man would to get the mark to bet big on the third hand. The third hand, though it looks like there is NO WAY the magician can win, he does.

So, the way it plays is this:

Ten cards are shuffled face down (by the spectator).

The magician takes the cards back (face down) and counts them to make it clear that there are only ten. Though the spectator could do the counting if you prefer.

The cards are then dealt, face down by the spectator, in the order in which they were shuffled, and the spectator's hand beats the magician's hand as predicted.

Next - The cards are shuffled again face down by the spectator. The spectator chooses one face down 'hole card' as does the magician.

The remaining 8 cards are offered face up, one by one to the spectator who accepts or rejects cards until he has five including his hole card. The magician takes whatever is left. The spectator wins again.

The spectator's confidence is growing! He's ready to bet it all on one final hand. To make sure that he does, the magician spreads all ten cards FACE UP and lets the spectator choose ANY FIVE CARDS to make the best possible poker hand BUT the magician WILL WIN!

After the spectator chooses his hand the magician explains that he used the principle of 'situationasl blindness'.

You know - you look on the table for your car keys, but you can't find them. You tear the house apart searching for them until finally, there they are, on the table all along. You were looking so hard you couldn't see them.

The magician turns his hand over and yes, it does beat the hand that the spectator chose.

Time to pay up! *g*

(PS: There is a performance demo in the advertisement section of all 3 of our new DVDs: Runaround Sue, Ellis in Wonderland, and 24 Years of Living Next Door to Ellis).

Hi Shomemagic,
I have it and like it a lot. Nice variation of the effect by adding a hustler plot. You get all the necessary cards.

Hi Tim,
I just looked for the demo video of Tim Card Poker Deal on your web page, that you mentioned in your post, but couldn't find it. Could you please provide me with the web page.
Thanks.

Sorry, I was unclear. The demo is on the ad section of the 3 DVDs themselves, not our webpage.

TIM

Glad you like it. The final phase really fries those magicians familiar with THE TEN CARD POKER DEAL
