Ben,
I don't recommend any other way! Mine (all three) are on Eureka table bases. That way you can haul them on a plane. However, George at Chalet can mount them on a rolling base he uses for Doves to Rabbit. I wish I had more of those too. They do not ship as well as the Eureka bases but rolling is a definite advantage. Visually, I think it is critical that the Dove in Balloon be free standing. Bob Magic By Sander |

How much extra would it cost to have it mounted on a rolling base?

Would you recommend doing this trick without an assistant? Are there any ways to do it from a distance without an assistant? Thanks. Regan

Regan,
I'm a ranch-raised kid from Alabama. Shooting a gun is always politically correct in your own yard, on your own ranch, and in your own show! LOL Actually, if I am working a place where there is any question, about fire or guns, I don't use them. I'm still a guest in someone else's house. I have had to just manually trip the prop before. Since I put a Plexiglas box over the top, it works OK. But it certainly was not the plan. That has only been when Plan B had to work. These problems can come up when, at the last moment, you were asked not to use the pistol, prop failure (batteries or lubrication), or even construction noise. (I don't like hotels near airports because of noise.) Mine purposefully don't require an assistant. (For years I could not rely on having an assistant.) They were made for me at Chalet nearly thirty years ago. PM me and I'll tell you why. The manual trips on mine are "outs" for problems. I do own one standard model Gloves to Dove. I don't have a good reason for that! I had another one just like it in the 80s and traded it off. Then in a moment of insecurity, replaced it. Perhaps it is related to my attraction to clutter? (That would be Lucy's explanation.) It is not one I have ever used in a show. It is packed in a box ready for shipping overnight if I have a crisis. Bob Magic By Sander |

Yes, you can put a cage or plexiglass box over the tray. As to activating it, there would be no difference with or without the cage.

I can furnish a rollling base that breaks in to two pieces with locking casters (important!) for $125 plus shipping. The base is aluminum and the upright is chromes steel with a welded flange on top. The upright is 30" long so it should pack into most cases. A couple of screws and you are set. It is the same one I use on the water fountain.
