You can get banners done in the US...shipping would not be that bad.
I did banners for numerous shows but not lately...not really set up for the big stuff... BUT I would be more than happy to design one for you that you can have most any sign shop replicate (if they are real artists) and just use a decent weight canvas and have some D rings sewn in the corners and reinforced. If you do find your banner painter, I'll still design one for you if you like. (no charge) You can see my art samples at lionpointstudio.com One banner is my latest design for myself. (no other banners are shown though but you'll get the idea. Doug

Yes there are quite a few Showmans painters in the UK but not canvas banner painters used to the old banner style. Also prices charged in the UK are heart attack fodder, I know co`s I have hired them !

I think that banners are crazy expensive anywhere. I'm having one done and it's the most expensive part of the collection thus far! Also, maybe you should try doing your own? I needed one 8x6 feet and knew I'd never be able to afford it, so I'm just doing it myself.

How much are you guys getting charged? I've done a few banners and was told I was inexpensive, so I'm just wondering what the going rate is?

The one that's being worked on now is a buck a square inch. The guy that's doing it is a musician full time and a painter on the side, but I think he's the best out there. So my 40x40 banner comes out to be $1600. I don't know how that compares to others out there, though. I don't know that I'd go to anyone else.

The banner is to be quite large so quite expensive. The late Barry Walls did one for me many years ago and charged me £150, but he was a mate. Xmosis has promised to send me a mock up (He is very kind) From which I will try and get someone in the UK to paint for me.I have not got the time or talent to do my own. Providing it is produced well I am quite prepared to pay around £400 for this as the ammount is within next seasons budget for drapes.Any takers ??

Some people are having banners done at these computer sign places. not sure how pricey they are.

Don, I have had computer cut lettering before and it`s OK on the vehicals but compared to the hand work of a proper sign or banner painter it sucks. In our flyers it states that our aim is to preserve the art of unusual entertainment, computer signs don`t do it for me.
Well Doug came through, and made a first class mock up for me, I am delighted. Thank you Doug, now to find a person worthy and talented enough to put brush to canvas ! |

Was a pleasure.
If I still had all my paints and some canvas blanks I'd be happy to paint it for you. But I made it fairly simple enough so it should be not the greatest challange to have somebody do it up and not charge too much. Have fun. Doug

Yeah, $1600 sounds about right. 40x40 is pretty big.

Good to know, Reis! I don't know what is standard out there. I gotta plug my guy, here. Better known for his music, you can check out some of Colonel J.D.'s banners at http://www.cockadoodledont.com Click on the art link at the top of the page. He's definitely my favorite!
