Hi, just thought I'd annoy everyone. Ive noticed something unusual. No one has started loads of questions about your favourite halloween tricks for kids shows this year. They do normally. So just out of interest what routines do you perform at halloween.

I do Blythe Spirit (was put out by Supreme yeeeeeears ago, Mark Leveridges Spooky Villa for older kids and a silk ghost routine and a production of a string of ghosts from a dove pan.

Your turn...

Rob, I don't bother with an all halloween act, I just change my giveaways to fangs, masks and fake blood make refrences to ghosts and ghouls and change the magic words to trick or treat. I use my dove pan for the fangs. And we do the plate spinning competions, two boys two girls and the winner of the boys and the winner of the girls wins masks. Sometimes I use a zombie and Spooky the ghost but I have found my normal act with the little changes works better.

Yeah I don't make a full halloween program. I just stick 3-4 halloween themed tricks in.

I've done two halloween shows today. I don't change anything in the act. Like Matt, I give away scary prizes, and make dracula and pumkin balloons for everyone at the end. I also use scary sound effects during the party game music. But the magic show stays the same.

I make a couple of changes..

1. Hot book becomes a book of spells
2. I use one trick I call The Box of Doom (someone picks a card and puts it back. I bring out a box and say I have made their card go there. They slide the lid open and a big spider jumps out.
3. My dove pan production is usually popcorn or something. For Halloween it is gummy worms.
4. The Monster Hat I do on myself and tell them I am trying to find a costume that's "really me"

Other than that, it stays the same.

I actually prepare a different Halloween show and promote it with its own promotional materials. People seem to be attracted to something that's a "specialty" item, and I get bookings that I normally wouldn't get. It makes me a lot of extra $$$ .

I did a halloween party on Friday for a local radio station, all I did was play fun spooky halloween songs, 'monster mash etc with spooky noises in between, in the break between the 2 magic show. The shows were my normal show as I don't theme a halloween show.

It was hard though trying to find enough music to fill the 25 minute gap. Especially as I couldn't used Micheal Jacksons thrller, I wont use it for the same reason you wont find me playing Gary Glitters Christmas song at xmas parties.

I made a square circle out of a plastic pumkin and it worked great. I produced a goldfish in a bowl in the end.

I just finish 50 halloween shows for the month of October yesterday.
I do a character named Count Wakula.Very funny with halloween jokes and tricks.
I do one safety trick in the show and I change the show year after year.Because I get a lot of repeat
bookings. This year I perform:
McBride's candle
Flash to rope
cut & restore rope
spirit cloth
Prof. Cheers rope with underwear
and dove production in underwear
All done with music
spot card( how your eyes play tricks on you late at night)
Vanishing catup bottle ( calling it blood because Wakula don't like blood)
spirit slates with ABC deck
Fradty cat rabbit
coffin gag- Dick stoners
Arm chopper
SC pumpkin with happy halloween silk
and that was this year show.
It sells much better if you can do a character.

Andrew, you've confused the hell out of me!!! Do you actually use ALL THAT MAGIC in one show?

And do halloween parties start really really early in October where you are. I only did 4 halloween shows, because over here in the UK, no-one has a halloween show that early in October. They only have the shows within the space of one week around halloween. I couldn't imagine anyone doing 50 shows in one week.

Me Too,Billy! It was a month.
I start early.I begin at this campground ever year.
The last two weeks are really crazy. Last week Sat. 6 shows. Really.
Yes I did all that magic.
The opening is 2 mintunes long.
It's a 45 min. show. Some times 30 min.
From McBrides candle to dove production. That's the opening of the show with music.

I did two halloween parties this year. It can be quite annoying when doing one of my dressing up routines as you can't really take of there, dracula capes and stuff and then get face paint all ove rthe clothes so I had to leave any dressing up routines out.
