I know there are only 2-3 actual "Parakeet Magic" books on the market. I own the cheap book titled "Parakeet Magic" featuring contributions from: John Shirley, Brian Le Slie, Murice Blackman, Eric Lewis, Rupert Gilbert, Stuart Leith, Douglas Francis, and Joe Zering. It comes as a plastic spiral bound book. Are there better books out? If not what would be of intrest in a parakeet magic book? I have so many great ideas and would love to get the ball rolling on writing an updated book of parakeet magic with current performers and updated routines; as well as, offer a few drawings and pictures of small illusions just for parakeet performers. If you are intrested or have an idea, PM me or email me at gillegalaxiesmagic@yahoo.com or SteelLuvMagic!aol.com... All ideas are helpful.

Do a search for Parakeet at
http://www.stevensmagic.com they have the videos on the subject. You have some ideas on parakeet magic. If you intend to write a book, I suggest you only include actual practial well worked out magic effects. Tried and test in real world performances. Maybe win a few international contest with you material. Then you will have something to market. The only parakeet magician I know of from the U.S.A. was Jack Kodell, he lives/lived in the Chicago area. I do not know if he is still alive. He has always refused to reveal his secrets, so noone knows any of his secrets. Good Luck! |

Refer to the Encyclopaedia of Dove Magic Vol 1 to 5. There are some effects there which use parakeets. On the other hand, most of the dove effects there could also be made for budgies or parakeets. Just make them smaller.

I agree with Lou. You can easily adapt ideas from dove magic to parakeets. So check out stuff by Tony Clark. Also, Dave Womach has two videos on bird magic that includes some specific routines with parakeets. Here's a link:
