Hi Mercede
There is no reason why you could not perform the Rich Marotta Fish Bowl and Artistic Fish in the same show. However, both tricks must be performed early in your act because of restrictions with loading times etc. All the best Scott |

This is always the great question...is the trick worth the price...we should never expect that the trick/effect/illusion/routine is exactly the cost of the price of the materials to build it...expect to pay for a quality piece of magic...everyone wants a bargain but remember you often get what you pay for

Heck, the zippered gag bag that comes with the trick is not limited to the fishbowl production. In addition to stand-up routines, I use it constantly in close-up situations and restaurants. Makes the perfect drink and ketchup production accessory...

I'm curious as to what other productions or routines are people doing using this bag?

While Rich's fishbowl production routine and patter certainly fits nicely with his comedic style and is a terrific opener, if done correctly, and the bag can be used for other types of productions, I would strongly recommend using the glass of water production as performed by Mr. Osterlind in his DVD. It is a super clean production utlitizing a plain paper shopping bag and a regular glass of water. It has the advantage, I believe, over Rich's fishbowl production in that Mr. Osterlind's glass of water production uses two spectators to assist in the production. It is a whole routine as opposed to a quick, flashy production (nothing wrong with an occassional quick production)like Rich's.
The way Mr. Osterlind uses the spectators is done to demonstrate the fairness and impossibility of the production but they are actually cleverly used to be part of and to cover up the method. A highly entertaining and mystifying production with audience participation. What more can an entertainer ask for.

Does it HAVE to be produced as an opener? I personally would like to perform it about half way through my show. is it because of the water in the bowl? could leak or something? because with my idea, I was thinking about having something else in the bowl besides a liquid. I guess this would be helpful to know before I make my purchase.

Ben,
I own this effect and no it does not have to be performed as an opener. If using the fishbowl production it depends what else you are going to do beforehand, you just have to be careful. If, as you said you are using something other than liquid, you still have to be careful, just not as much. Great effect and a real surprise to the audience.

Dear Phillip,
The link you suggested does not seem to work with my computer. Would you happen to know the reason? Thank you in advance! Regards, D |
