A co-worker also does magic, (I am tring to get him to do a bit more than his card work...."come to the dark side my son"...) we were talking about artifacts and their place in the work, when he revealed he had his grandfathers old woodworking tools, in about 5 minutes we came up with the following:
(of course it will take a little while to get the props ready but... Grandpa’s tools Grandfather was a woodworker. In those days, that meant you used your hands and your tools carefully, and slowly. Grandfather had his favorite tools, the ones he worked with and held most often, and…Grandfather had his favorite woods, the ones his tools touched the most often! Sometimes I think grandfather is still here, keeping an eye on his tools. Here, we have some blocks of different woods set up to pass around and sit upon the table. <some small bases with different wooden blocks are set upon the table, and an old woodworking tools is removed from a bag> I can take the tools, and let it feel the different woods, and where they are on the table, and when I set it down, it will find the one wood that was Grandfathers favorite- the maple! <grasping the working end of the bladed tool, the magi taps each block with the handle end before setting it on the table also, the blocks are arrayed in a semi-circle- then slowly the tool rotates to point the blade at the selected wood “Maple”> Now, sometimes folks think I'm controlling the tool, so I will tell you what, while I turn around, you mix up the blocks, and cover them with those napkins. You see, Grandpa said that the woods each had a vibration, an energy that would call to his tools, and he used to let his tools talk to the wood all the time, ready? <participants mix the blocks around on the table and cover them with fabric napkins> Lets let it talk to the wood again, and see what it says! <once more the magi grasps the tool, and taps the blocks through the napkins to let the tool “talk” to the woods, then upon setting the tool down on the table, it again rotates to the selected wood> (Place the blocks and the tool back into the bag) Comments anyone? Unique!
I love a good story, and this one certainly falls well into that category. This theme should lend itself well to other tools and effects. I'll think on it as I put in a few hours behind the windshield this weekend... Oh! Nail bending! |

Kay,
I think this is a great story! It really hits to the idea of family and people that were important in our lives. I love it! Congratulations. |

This is a good idea. It wooden be too difficult to set up, either.

Most certainly a "Telekinetic Timber" would find a home in such a routine. Are they still being produced?
