Steve,
Nail file or rough nail buffer. Or tin snips. Just cut the blade bit off. Paula

Buy the Tim Ellis DVDs. There is a method on there that is far better than any other.

Just use fine emery paper. I've been using it for years.

Hi there,
Why don`t you rub the razor blades against a piece of fine marble, or some other fine stone? Hope this helps. Best regards, Ziga |

I've used a metal file, and it has done the job perfectly. Be sure to carefully check each blade for spots you might have missed. You don't want to end up with a bloody mouth as part of the effect.

I rubbed the edge at a right angle to a wet stone.

Thanks, guys, I appreciate the help. I might try all of these methods! I will let you know how I get on!
And hi, Wayne! Haven't spoken to you in ages. Must catch up. I have Tim Ellis' lecture notes, but am too scared to risk it! Thanks again. Steve Dela |

Don't try to blunt them. The inside section of the blade (the cut-out bit in the centre) is what will cut your mouth.
The method in our notes (and on our new DVD) is much safer.

I wanted a single edge blunt razor blade (not for swallowing or stringing) and got it nice and smooth very quickly using a table mounted wheel grinder. Once you grind the edge off, a buffing wheel will smooth out any burrs. Depending on what you do with it, it will still cut since the metal is thin, so be careful.

The easiest and safest way still is to rub it on a stone that normally is used to sharpen knifes and that kind, or some sandpaper that is NOT too rough. You don't shoot small birds with 'Die dicke Berta*, so why use a file on a razor blade?

Tim's way is the best I've found. Just get his notes.
When you're ready to try somethnig with ungimik'd razorblades, get a copy of the book 'Kort'. He has an effect called "Wanna Try" which is pretty interesting. MM

I use the head of a nail. Be sure to blunt the corners as well.
Tim's idea is very safe IF you replace the gimmick on a regular basis. Using the gaff too often without changing it can cause it to fall off leaving super sharp razors in your mouth! |

Take Nicholas J. Johnson's advise and "Be sure to blunt the corners as well."
This is most important. A nail file, file, sand paper, it all does the same thing. Or... I don't know what Tim's way is, so if I give it away here... sorry. But a friend of mine has his chrome plated. They come out shiny and not sharp at all. Randi |

I have used the blades for years and havn't dulled them for a long time. but when I first started out, I simply held them vertically(90degrees) against some cement or concrerte. scrape them acrodd the cement a few times and they definatly wont ever cut anything again---including skin

I have done many versions of the razor blades for years and have one deep cut to prove it. Recently I have adapted Tim Ellis's method and it is 'da bomb!"
