Hey there
I've done research here but have not seen a topic of this.. I know this book is OOP..but does anyone have this book? Is it any good? explained in good details with sufficient illustrations? How is it compared to Ed Marlo's Secons, Bottoms, Centers?? thanks |

I am fortunate to have the book and Marlo's SSB's and I very much like the Gene Maze book. It is clearly explained and illustrated with a number of variations on the basic Gene Maze bottom deal technique. It also includes a serviciable center deal as well. One half of the book is devoted to the different deals while the other half contains excellent card routines employing the different types of bottom deal. This really is an excellent volume and I cannot recommend it highly enough. SSB's by Marlo is also very good with some excellent bottom deal techniques, but personally I prefer the Maze method. Hope this helps.

Is this Gene's one and only book up to date?

I've seen a couple of copy on http://www.Addall.com recently and fairly priced. You would be surprised what we could find on this web site. I've even seen Earl Nelson's Variations some years ago when the book used to sell for over 200$ on Ebay at about 70$.

I placed my order for the book after seeing "Touch of a Mentalist" and a few other routines.
I hope that I will be able to place a positive comment on the book once I've read it. |

In 1980, Richard Kaufman published "The Gene Maze Card Book", a 93 page paperbound book. Gene also has a video and several effects in Apocalypse.

Any recent views on the Gene Maze bottom deal method? I'm trying out a number of different deal including the Maze method and would be interested to hear any opinions you may have.

I managed to find a copy on ebay years ago, his bottom deal is essentially the Erdnase bottom strike rather than the push off.
Here's an old video of me performing his bottom deal (first deal in the video) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VIbeRG6Ul6Q His centre deal technique uses a similar grip, I can't do it too speed but can do it well enough when slowly as a demo |

Antonio Zuccaro recently wrote "Finding the Center." It a center deal as opposed to a bottom deal, but still worth picking up if you're willing to invest the time.
