Dave Risley (www.daverisley.com) has an incredible collection of motivational and emotional impact bits for family shows. You'll probably have to email him to ask since I don't see them on his website. One is this incredible torn-&-restored newspaper bit that promotes family unity - my memory is so bad I can't recall the name (Sorry, Riz!). When he demonstrated these at KIDabra, there wasn't a dry eye in the house. Whew!

To mirrior the post before this one, sort of. Effects do not impact emotionaly, performances do. The greatest effect can leave them flat, the worst effect can knock em dead. It's all about presentation.

I've seen people react emotionally to symbols like pentagrams or magic performances in general. But, producing a bird can illicit the biggest emotional reaction; usually fear.

I really think derren browns material is just astonding. to me, it exactly shows just how emotional we can push our magic. although he specialises in mentalism, he adopts an emotional undertone in all his effects - from astonishment to laughter, from tearful to unnerving fear.
his versions of classic effects like "out of this world" (shown on tv) and the needle through the arm effect depends on the emotional framework he uses to present it. BIG UP DB!!!! x
