I had a friend in college that had the same sensitivity that you have. His mother got one of the first hairless cats that became so popular at the time, thinking it would be safe for her son. When the cat got to be about 6 months old they had to give it away. My friend was heartbroken and learned first hand that the problem was in the skin. Young (baby) animals are not shedding old skin dander until they get a little older.
