As mentioned, it's not so much Blaine's sleight of hand or presentation skills but the Houdini like stunts, promotions and marketing behind him.
On the street he comes off as a mysterious guy who does minor miracles. I'm curious. Does Blaine himself say he's a "MAGICIAN"? |

Like I said in the other "Blaine" thread...many of you are just jealous that he's made millions doing what we love, but we have to get up and go to work everday...and I totally agree with Jordini, as far as his comparison to the showmanship of Houdini, how they both use(d) the media and so forth to propell their publicity....again and again I ask what the H@#$ is the big problem with the man? so what if he uses tricks form the bloody internet...we've all done that, that's what the magic shops are for!!!! Why spend so much time trying to label the man...its ego ego ego...
he is what he is...and you all wish you could have made 6 million bucks doing what he did period. like the elders always say, its the presentation, the mood one sets that brings forth the real ILLUSION of magic. love to one and all |

Just an idea. Skill isn't the only thing required in magic. I'm not the biggest fan of Blaine and sure a lot of he's tricks are simple. But I would congradulate him on what he's done. Just a thought.
I would love to see you do what he's done.... |

Well...it worked
..just wanted to get everyone's undies in a bundle. Lets all loosen up, eh?
"What's your father's occupation?"
"He's a magician" "What's his favorite trick?" "Sawing people in half." "Gosh! Any brothers or sisters?" "One half brother, and two half sisters" |

Everyone make those simple effects not only beginers but the pro's too! |

I think the audience liked it, which is the most important. And speaking of skills, I saw him do a riffle pass in his "street magic" in one of his ambitious card routines, and from the way he handles his cards says a lot about how much he practised as well. His presentation is great and impactful. So why go whinning about him just because he made a millions more than you do?
Don't think too much.
Just hit it. |

Haha, not whining. Im just saying I think he's done great things for magic, but as of late, he's more of an endurance artist.
and many say not even a real one.

When everyone was filming magic, Blaine filmed the reactions too and that was great thinking if you ask me.

I don't think it hurt that he's a good looking guy too.

It's to easy critic somebody, but it's not very good when somebody critics you!
The Dragon was saying about the riffle pass. I don't remember when Blaine make a move like that, It wasn't a riffle pass it was the 'TILT' move I think, But it's just my opninion! |
