There have been a couple of people who have problems seeing the PICS on the main page. I think I have found the problem but need a few people to test my theory. If you go to the main page http://themagiccafe.com you should see the normal screen. Click on your browser TOOLS then INTERNET OPTIONS (for IE) and clear all the files in your cache by clicking DELETE FILES. Now refresh the main page. If my theory is correct, you will not see the Café's animated GIF or any pics. You will only see the links to the 3 areas and the "site best viewed..."
I think most people are not seeing a problem because the images are loading from cache. My new PC I used yesterday pointed out this issue. I think the images are gone, or the path referenced is incorrect which is "<IMG SRC="The_Magic_Cafe/IMAG0000.GIF"" which you can see by clicking VIEW then SOURCE. 1 of 2 scenerios. Either the images have been moved or renamed.... or... The server doesn't support that path name due to a number of factors including Case Sensitivity. How bout it Café techies, am I right? I duplicate on both IE and Netscape 7.02 with all Firewalls, anti-virus, and any/all blocking capabilities turned off. |

Sorry, I followed your directions to the letter, and I can still see the images on any page on this site. The server does support the file names/paths used. If it didn't, nobody would see the images.
The images have not been moved or renamed, they are in the same file structure they have been in from the beginning, so that's not the problem. Do you have any popup blockers or ad blockers running? Those can sometimes cause "legitimate" images to not display. Also, some Trojans can rewrite the page code causing images to not be displayed. Have you checked your browser settings to be sure that all images are allowed to be displayed? It's hard to troubleshoot things like this without being able to sit in front of your computer and check things. I'm unable to duplicate the problem from any of the several computers and browsers available to me. |

Hmmm, I tried this from my work and the images are there. What I have is a Sony Vaio on a home LAN. I have turned off all POP-UP blockers, firewalls, proxies. I have even reformatted my Hard Drive and restored. It seems strange the graphics would not load using IE or Netscape from that machine. There must be some setting on my LAN connection that is preventing these images from showing. My browser just hangs and eventually I get the red X's where the graphics should be. I'll try a few things when I get home tonight...this is really puzzling me and I see I am not the only Café member this is happening to.
I have a Sony Vaio RZ series model RX54G Windows XP Media Edition running latest SP2 Intel pro/1000 network card (set to 10mb/half duplex) Netscape 7.02/IE 6.02 browsers (happens on both) 200 Gig HD/ 1G Ram/ 1.5 DSL service I recently formatted my HD and restored to factory settings. My HD was partitioned....only 8gb for the C; drive. I needed more so I partitioned it for 50gb and my D drive is now 150gb. I started experiencing this problem after Formatting and reinstalling all the software(Restore). I am also experiencing other problems downloading some files, it's not just the Café. Looks like my theory above is wrong. I thought for sure I was on to something!! |

Here's a clue to the problem.
If I try to go directly to the graphics referenced in the HTML from home at this addy.. http://www.themagiccafe.com/The_Magic_Cafe/IMAG0002.GIF I get "user not authorized to access this area" From my work, where I don't have this problem, I can see the picture in my browser. I'm not sure how to get permission..or any browser/DSL settings that would allow me to get these pics. Any ideas? |

No, I get "User not authorized to enter this area"...
Hmmmmm, must be a security setting on my PC? ISP? |

Please PM me with the IP used on your LAN. I may be able to fix this for you.

My lan IP is 192.168.0.4
I have ALL Firewalls turned off, all popup blockers turned off, Browser security was reset to LOW, all options are enabled for graphics. This is really crazy. I'm curious Mary, what you might be able to do that will "fix" this issue I am having. |
