Logos alone are boring!

Unfortunately, most photos that magicians use are boring and cliche. You seem to have developed a distinctive personality for yourself. Others would benefit from doing the same.

Changing a photo almost every year just adds to cost is all. If you have the budget to do it, then that is fine. It is just an issue to take into consideration when doing any businesscard design.

Kyle, that is nonsense! Any print shop with smarts will retouch an amateur shot in digital format to see to it that you keep coming back for more printings. It is in their interests to do so.....they won't charge you more each time you change your photo.....If you don't have access to a digital camera get a pro to do it for you...it isn't very much at all.

If you don't have a budget to see to it that you have a presentable image via your marketing materials then you really aren't working very much now are you?

If someone here needs help in developing your logo, image, or marketing materials, I will happily offer my assistance, until you develop your own wings and feathers

Stop scaring them off Kyle!

Wolfgang, I have always read each of your posts with a great amount of interest! I know that you to speak your mind and shoot from the hip....most folks can't even find their 6 shooter! That is why I highly value your comments and observations on my materials! Thank you my fine fellow Texan!

Rey Rey:

You have the wrong idea. I am not saying it Can't be done. I am only saying that you must consider the cost involved in photo retouching or a new photo edit each year if you want to go this route.

Sure they will change it and in most cases they will edit it but do you have any idea of the cost involved in doing so? It is very costly indeed and your price WILL add up. I know because I do it almost every day at my day job.

I am not scaring anyone off at all. I speak my mind as do yourself. This is not just an opinion is is factual information that any person should take into consideration when doing or having any marketing material done.

The simple fact is that editing a photo, retouching a photo or having a new photo done and run off is more costly in the long run then having a logo designed and used consistently year after year to brand yourself.

Now a magician can use whichever format they choose. Logo or photo or a combination of both. I have designed both ways and both ways can be very effective. Just keep in mind your overall cost before diving in on what you want to use on which piece of material.

For myself, I prefer using a logo for my cards and saving the photos for my postcards I send out. There is more room on the postcard for a better and great impact photo shot.

I was thinking a picture on the front, and my logo on the back.

You could do that as long as the picture you present is geared towards the target market and audience you are aiming for. if you want to do mainly kids shows, then I would not use the image in your avatar as it conveys more of a stage and close-up type of an image.

Just my 2 cents worth.
