I've been away on personal business from Nov. 21st to Dec. 5th. When I got back, I discovered a hacker had gotten into my web account, when I found that one of my web pages had been deleted.
Today, for the first time since I've been back, I logged on to the Magic Café, and found that the hacker has apparently been in here, too (my avatar and signature were deleted). I can't wait to find out where else this person has been in my name, and what they've done. At this end, I've already got an investigation going. Due to the mischevious, rather than real damaging, nature of the hacking, the field has been narrowed. I'm going to change my password while I'm in here, but I was wondering if the management here had any further suggestions to help with the security of my Café account? |

The best thing to do is use a password you can remember that includes both letters and numbers, and DO NOT write it down or save it anywhere. Also, when you log into the Café, it places a year-long login cookie on your machine by default. To eliminate the possibility of someone logging into the Café as you, log out when your visit is finished.
If you use a non-recognizeable password like that, don't write it down, and log out of the Café before you leave the site, there's much less chance somebody could log in as you. If this "hacker" was not connecting to the Café through your computer and actually posted messages under your name, let us know and we can see what the person's IP address is. It may or may not help, but it's at least something we can look at. Those are the things I can think of right now, anyway. Good luck!
Somebody kick me off the computer, will ya?
