Hi Gordon,
Just was wondering if you had any thoughts on how to archive lecture notes and pamphlets. It seems as the stack grows its more difficult to find items I want. The different sizes and binding formats present an issue for me. Any Thoughts, Brian |

Hi Brian,
I stronlgy suggest you also ask your question in this section of the forum: "Where to put it all... General discussions on prop management" or even do a search in that section... I personally use 3" D-ring binders, with a table of content at the beginning of each binder, and I put the small lecture notes in a plastic transparent pocket (those that fits most binders!!!) I hope this helps. Cheers! Ronnie Lemieux

Thanks Ronnie,
The reason I asked the question to Mr. Bean is because he is responsible for the library at The Castle. I was hoping he had a double secret method for controlling the madness. |

Controlling the madness is right. My secret is simple: have amazing people help you. Castle member Carol Marie (and author of two books about the Castle that would make great Christmas gifts) has has been overseeing a long-needed overhaul of the organization of the Castle library, and as part of this Rich Cowley and his wife Phyllis have--among other Herculean tasks--moved and re-collated all of our lecture notes. And the entire team, including Carol, Allan Hayden, Rich, Phyllis, and, recently, Steve Muscarella--have been wrestling with the pamphlets. The one tip I can pass along is that lecture notes and pamphlets seem to do better when on a long side rather than on a short one.

I found that with notes, so many different sizes, I put them into 8-1/2 x 11 envelopes and file them in a legal size cabinet.

I've never been to the Castle (one of the great unfulfilled things in my life) but I must say the the Magic Circle library, under the guiding hand of John Nicholls, is first rate. I could spend years in there.
I hope I will. The Castle library is justly renowned. Keep up the fine work, Gordon and Co. Matt Field |

We'll look forward to when you can finally make it, Matt. And I certainly look forward to making it to the Magic Circle library some day.
