I have stumbled in here by chance, but it seems to be the kind of place I needed to find.

I was crazy for magic from age 7-16, belonged to the Junior Section of the London Society of Magicians, etc. Gave it all up for schoolwork - which I dropped out of eventually.

Doing a street act in my 20s and 30s (mostly juggling, tumbling, fire, etc) got me using bits of that knowledge again - not just in the show, but in that important time afterwards when people want to talk to you - and close-up keeps the charm going.

I more or less stopped doing the street show a while ago - now I've turned 50, ended up with a straight job (on the computers in my local library) and seem to have caught the magic bug again as a hobby(thanks to the Web and the chance to track down obscure books). It's all pretty theoretical at the moment - I'm back in love with the lateral (or is that 'devious'?) thinking involved - though my hands seem rusty, and a lot of new moves got invented in the last 40 years!

Welcome Friend ReTurner!

Nice to have you find us as you have!

Although much seems new, much more is just a new look at some old moves!

I thin you will like it here!

Hello ReTurner!!

The Web is certainly a useful tool when it comes to magic. It's interesting when you read posts saying "pop into your local magic store". Mine would be about two-hundred miles away I think.

The web brings it all to my doorstep, and how would I meet such an interesting group of people everyday with similar interests?

Good to have you with us.

Welcome aboard, ReTurner.
Been there myself and you're right: A lot has happened in the past 40 years.
But there are plenty of people on this board willing to help you fill in the gaps. Smile

Well met ReTurner!

I find that WD-40 is excellent at removing rust, but I don't know what the equivalent would be in Wales.
