Heres a bit of impromtu that's sure to get a great reaction....
find someone who, you know their name, but they don't know you know their name...lets say...."jessica," right before you go up to them, take an ink pen, or even a gel pen, and write the letter "J" on your first finger....immediately going up to them, I gently grab the inside of their wrist area with the marked finger, thereby leaving an imprint of the letter on her wrist. proceed to ask her name....I then grab a piece of paper, a rolling paper as a matter of fact, write the letter "J" on it, burn it, and "throw" the ashes toward her arm....ask her to look for the "mark of voodoo," and if it worked, she will be "blessed" by the spirits! of course, its there, and shes astonished... I have been doing this with letters and "X" for awhile now...I recently heard of a purchasable version of this concept, but will not mention its name here....I contend, however, that Ive been doing this for years, and therefore I desire that no one complain that another formula exists... I also offer this with my idea of "voodoo," and I use the patter thereof....So please use what is comfortable to you, and please do not make this yet another "morality" thread............peace |

Hey babakali,
This is a great idea. I gave this a try. It works like magic (pun intended). It is also a powerful piece of magic to do even if you do know each other. Just give a little time before the revelation from the spirits. Peace and Happy Holidays! Phil

Excellent babakali!
Simple, yet powerful, and open to several different ways of presentation. I shall summon the spirits later and perform this on my wife. |

Cool. Simple and seems should pack a big punch.
How do you touch their wrist without without raising suspicion? Do it while shaking their hand in the course of introducting yourself, or something like that? |

I'm going to have to try this. Just a regular ink pen? Not a sharpie or something of that sort?

Well,
touching them is always risque...but under the right circumstances, it goes o'er well... when I do it for strangers I sometimes have them hold out there arm, and pull them out slightly, saying "a little bit more, now pick a hand, and lets eliminate one" so by doing this, Ive marked them, and forced the correct arm...the "dirty" arm goes behind their back...waiting or my revelation...much like the voodoo ash thing...if you don't know this one...youve missed out!! this kills under the right environment... if you don't know their name, simply use an "X"...a better way is to look up STARS AND HEXES at your local magic dealer..tis a gem, and the principle, though similar, is much better than my approach...buy this!!!!! 20 bucks for this miracle!! I do use an ink roller type pen..gel pens work swell too... no sharpie!! theyll never get rid of their mark!!! ah, remember to, when using their inital, to write it on your finger backwards... Baba |

I saw Bob sheets do this with a pencil on a sugar cube. The spectator writes their initials ona sugar cube. The the magician picks it up and drops it in a glass of water. The initials appear all over the spectator and then other members of the audience. one of the funniest things I've ever seen in magic.

Thought I'd drop this little note. If you want to try this trick without knowing the person even remotely try this: Statistically the most commmon name beginnings are M and J. I've been toying around with this trick using this principle. Just as described above right the letter on your hand go up to the person and ask their name. If it starts with a J or M shake their hand leaving the mark and proceed with the trick if it doesn't just move on to something else.

Very good...
such subtleties are indeed risky, but when it pays off, it pays BIG... or, you can do a few effects, i.e. "voodoo ashes", this will get 'em used to you touching them, methinks...then casually asking them their name, or write their name ala CT...obtaining the info. thus, using the appropriate eye contact, patter, misdirection, you can easily make the mark on your finger unbeknownst to them..even using the very word "Hypnosis" anywhere in your patter will, from my experience, induce a mild vibration of suggestion...especially when youve already performed a few mind bogglers...the atmosphere, as it were, is already set...
