You are a wise man Ken! My decision to purchase Vern was not really rushed, but I had planned on waiting a while. My wife actually offered to buy him for me as a Christmas gift...So how could I refuse an offer like that? I wish I could have done like you and been more prepared for his arrival. I have used Axtell's Magic Drawing Board for a while and the response is so good that I had already made a decision to try to learn vent and get a puppet. I just didn't know it would be this soon.

I got the ABC Re-combobulator from my wife for Christmas, and I couldn't be happier. I had a spot for it in the Dumm Gumm show, so when Chance said he had made 6 for the holiday season I jumped on it. So now I want to make sure I'll use vent figure before I purchase it. Man, it's tough to be patient. I'll let you know if I get him.

Wow...nice Christmas gift Ken! And you're correct, patience is hard>

Alson,
That would be great to have a whole family! I already have my eyes set on at least 3 other Axtell puppets. Don't know when I'll get them, but until then I hope to learn vent and write some scripts. I wasn't as smart as Ken this time. Maybe when I get my next puppet he'll be ready to go as soon as he arrives.

I'm a pretty lucky guy, my wife is very understanding, most of the time. When she saw the Recomcbobulator when it arrived, she was pretty impressed with Chance & Shelly's workmanship and artistic ability. It's going to fit into the show perfectly. I still want that puppet though.

Sounds like you are a lucky guy. She obviously has good taste too if she was impressed with the Recombobulator. However, I have never heard of anyone that isn't impressed with Wolf's Magic when it comes to the quality of workmanship, creativity, and artistry.

Regan,

Chance & Shelly really have the market cornered on quality. Can't wait to see future offerings from them. By the way, do you know how often Axtell does the auction thing on their website? Just curious...

No, I don't Ken. I really don't know anything about it at all. I did notice it the other day when I was on the Axtell website, but I didn't check any details. Sorry I can't help.

If you find out anything about it, please let me know and I will try and do the same for you.

Thanks.

I noticed the auction section a while back, but when I checked on it a few months later, an auction had taken place, and I missed it. I guess I'll have to check the site more often. Another way of tempting me into buying a puppet. Steve thinks of everything, doesn't he????

Yes, I believe he does.

Is this auction exclusively for Axtell puppets? Is it items that Steve sells only, or is it for anyone?

Regan,

I think it's just puppets. I seem to remember seeing a Chimp puppet that was on the auction block a few months ago. When I checked back, the dragon that is currently listed had been awarded to the highest bidder. I probably would have bid on him had I known about the auction. Oh well, it looks like the winner basically got the upgrade of the "smoke" from the nose for his savings for his winning bid. I'll keep my eye on the site and if I see a new auction opening, I'll PM you.

That smoking dragon is pretty cool...er...hot, I guess. Can you really add the smoking upgrade later?

What I meant, is that when he paid $380 for the Dragon, he basically got the upgrade for the smoke for only $50. If he had bought the dragon without having to bid, he would have paid the normal cost of $329. I think the upgrade is $199, so he saved $150 on the puppet. Still a very good deal if you want or need a fire breathing dragon.

I thought that was probably what you meant Ken. I just wanted to be sure. It would be cool if it were an option that you could add on later though.

By the way, who doesn't want or need a fire-breathing dragon? Of course I have my wife...she breathes fire once in a while.

:)

Please don't tell here I said that. I'll be in the doghouse again.

LOL Regan.

Yeah that was a good deal ont he Dragon in that last auction. I appreciate the heads up. I haven't looked at the auctions in a long time. Steve has been doing this for a long time now but I wasn't able to find how often he does them. Any ideas gang? Smile

Thanks For keeping it quiet Ken. I would hate to have to move in with my dog. I'm afraid he and Vern won't get along.

:)

Chris,

Steve Axtell is a member of The Magic Café. You could email him also. He has been good to respond to questions.

We've been so busy, sorry about the slow auctions. What would be the best thing for magicians to see on the auction....how about a combination package?
