Well...there he was, dressed all snazzy and doing what he does best. The History Channel had a rather weird though mundane Wild West Tech on last night featuring the Side Show. Unfortunately Todd was not the key writer involved. The show as a whole seemed pretty slipshod and slapdashedly written but was interesting none the less...I reckon.
Todd handled his little spots well (except for the Giant Booger attached to the nail after Block Head) My friend James Taylor seemed like he was being injected with 'Bubbly' and I attribute this to lack of strong direction...James needs a heavy stick held above his (oddly shrinking) head... The actors that were hired to portray the long dead side show acts like Oofty Goofty and the pin head Zip might as well have stayed home...actually it looked like they did. All in all OK and only the chance to see Todd on a day off was worth sitting through those lousy commercials. If I hear that broad climaxing one more time over her Burlington Coat I'm going to throw out the TV! "IIII WAAANT TOOO FEEEEEEEEL YOUUUUR WAAAAARMTH." Go fake your 'O' somewhere else lady. UH. How dare they besmerch Sideshow with a garbage ad like that! Doug

Now there you go, Doug, you've actually discovered an art form lower than the sideshow. Maybe we should paint a banner of the Burlington Coat Lady...Lady Fakerino or whoever she is.

Having done tens of thousands of commercials, radio and TV...I've come to hate the *** things with just about the only passion I have left. But THAT one...man oh man...for some reason...well...there ya go.

We did that shoot at 8 am in Johnny Fox's Freakatorium. They had a list of topics they wanted to talk about and after they got the interviews they did the reenactments. They then wrote and shot the intro and outros with Keith Carradine. A good hunk of the whole thing was rather silly, but I think they did a pretty good job with a topic that was stretching the "tech" topic.
The Blockhead I did was my attempt to put a 19th century dime museum spin on the stunt. I don't know if you noticed, but part of that speil was Bobby Reynolds magic act opening. Next up will be a project I just completed for the Voom high definition TV network. I MCed the HD Sideshow featuring a number of burlesque and variety acts in addition to sideshow performers like Tyler Fyre and Fredini. It's all very campy and pretty cheesy, but it looks good. |

Yep...HD does look good. That footage will probably wind up on one of the Discovery Networks in one form or another. (I hope)
Thanks for the inside on the 'evolution' of the West Tech' TV show. At least they got Carradine to smile. Speaking of Reynolds...I have a project in the works you should like. Got to keep it 'wrapped' though till it comes about. Doug

I think I know what the Reynolds project is, and I think it's a fine idea. Don't worry. I won't do anything to "foil" your Reynolds project. I will ask that you get it all. Get the real Walter DeLenz work because Bobby is the only one left that DeLenz taught it to. By the way, the medicine opening is from T. P. Kelly, not P.T. Kelly as has been listed elsewhere.

I wouldn't expect a 'foil'...especially from you. It won't be a money maker I don't think but it will preserve and make available some precious things....what ever he comes up with, I'll go with though I do have some requests...whether he remembers it or not. If you have some specifics (you know a hell of a lot more than I do!) please PM me and Ill also lay out exactly what I intended.
The big speed bump is getting the old man on site and getting it done. Later Doug
