Kinesis,
I remember forty, like it was just twenty years ago. My youngest daughter was born. It was a very good year! Our Fleetwood Broughams were full sized cars then. You could even sleep in the back seats. Airport security was there to protect the passengers and help them make their schedules. To work Vegas you only had to speak English and Japanese. (All prices were posted both ways!) Things are actually better now. I get discounts from people who don't even know who I am. (Well, they do say senior discounts.) People ask if I drove myself there. And a good location is near a hospital rather than a school. Young ladies will offer their chairs! Older ones ask if you are widowed yet and still functional. People don't recognize the candidates' names on the old election stickers on your car. I have to remember that twenties "are change". When you pay in cash, the cashiers say, "How quaint." Then they check the bills for counterfeits. I understand that people even finance cars now! At magic conventions they remark about your 48-star MisMade Flag or how they have never seen anyone use pieces-of-eight for coin magic before. They have questions about cigarette magic with regular unfiltered cigarettes. They don’t even use real rope for rope magic anymore. (Try finding a man in the audience with a good pocketknife!) However, they think magic with silks, newspaper, metal rings, canes and cups and balls are all NEW! Do remember to do the salt tricks with a salt substitute. (Some people apparently eat their props.) Otherwise, nothing changes. You finally get to quit competing with the boys and start enjoying yourself with the guys. Life begins at forty. Enjoy! Bob Magic By Sander |

I remember when I turned 40, except I was 16.
Happy Birthday Kinesis.
In loving memory of Hughie Thomasson 1952-2007.
You brought something beautiful to this world, you touched my heart, my soul and my life. You will be greatly missed. Until we meet again “my old friend”. |

I think Satchel Paige said it best: "How old would you say you are, if you didn't know how old you were?" Happy Birthday, kid!

40 can be dealt with. I know because I've been doing it since my 40th birthday on October 2nd!
I joked to my in-laws that 40 was "The Hill" wasn't it, and I was now over it. They laughed and said "You ain't seen nothin' yet." I like the line about "pushing (40,50,60,whatever) is easier than pulling it." Gonna have to remember that one. Congratulations, and Happy Birthday.

Young 40! That's when life starts. You're old enough to know better, just not young enough to do any thing about it! Me? I am 43 and loving life, except on days when I have a hard time getting started.

I am 46 but they way I view it I still haven't hit mid-life yet.
When my Grandfather was 93 I told him that was wonderful. He asked me what was so wonderful about it? I replied: "Very little peer-pressure!" - Brian Nadworny

The wife just told me yesterday that when I turn 62 I'll get about $560 a month from Social Security! Now I can't wait for the next almost 7 years to pass so I'll be there!
OHhhhh....keep $100 a month, give her the rest, keep doing magic gigs for free like the one I have in town here every Thursday (a lot LESS "pressure" and more FUN than the paid ones! and I don't have to perform for pencilneck geeks that I don't want to talk to), a big bottle of "hooch" once a week...and run the SCCA Race Car too... I'm looking forward to this...even though it's pretty much the same right now, just NICE knowing the $$ is coming in every month because the "62" is gonna happen anyway!! Still...would love to be 40 again... |

I am over 40 now and my magic just starts to get better. I hope by the time I am in nursing home, I still can entertain the roomates in there.

When my wife turned 40 I told her that I was going to trade her in for two 20 years olds. She told me that I wasn't wired for two-20.

As a magician, I realize that fantasy is sometimes better than reality.
