I'll jump in here quickly too - I too am a regular 'lurker'!!
Name: Mike Clarke Favorite type of magic: Illusions (with a lot of comedy) Location: Bristol, UK Occupation: Entertainer How did you get interested in Gospel Magic?: After attending a days event at the Magic Circle in London organised by the FCM. Toby Travis and others talked about the paranormal from a christian magician's perspective - it opened my eyes to the fact that magic can be used in an incredibly powerful way to show people the Gospel in a memorable way. Since then I've been encouraged to see how many other Christian magicians there are about! How are you involved in Magic now? (Gospel and other): I am a kids entertainer here in Bristol. Also a 'regular' at my church Sunday School, doing a gospel routine. Am just working on some new routines to be able to provide a 45-minute magic and gospel show for families/groups etc. Will keep you informed! Mike |

Hey, we follow the Master. Why wouldn't we be? How are you involved in Magic now? (Gospel and other): Like I said, I'm launching my act into the public arena and trying to get money from it. I have two shows scheduled for this month so far, and my personal goal is 10 shows this year. Pray for me. CSR |

Thanks for the opportunity, and since I always have too much time this time of the year (as I do a lot of writing)…I would like to add-
Name: Kelly Duro Favorite type of magic: amphitheater, Family concert style Location: No. California Occupation: Full time Professional entertainer, inventor -25 years. (that makes me 26 years old, but don’t tell anyone) How did you get interested in Gospel Magic?: At one time 24 years ago I became infatuated with that idea. However, after years of rigorous self-examination, I began to accept that my performing career is not appropriate for evangelizing. To me my vocation is performed as an art form at best, and as such I represent my ‘interpretation of life’ in my artform. My “Gospel” is that I celebrate God’s goodness (to the degree I have come to comprehend it) and manifest it and demonstrate my gratefulness, (which is literally explosive) within my performance. And without mentioning His name, my challenge is to compel the audience to understand what I am representing. How are you involved in Magic now?: I am currently gathering new members unto my team to develop the next ‘stage’ of this current concept. So far I have a well-known writer, and my music is being handled by another award winning composer in the Christian marketplace. A little later, a Trade Mark attorney, and someone to do the branding. I may have a publicist, promoter, and I hope to get this up and running again within the year. But I have a lot of work to do, and people to pay. I know this may have come across as cerebral, but I assure you that I appear the opposite when I perform. Incidentally, God made us wait 21 years to have our first child, (boy) – imagine my JOY, and I try not to take Gods goodness for granted anymore! Cheers, Kelly Duro
No longer taking Private messages , thank you.

Thanks for the opportunity to introduce myself to other Christian Magicians
Name: Richard F. Hale dba Howdy D. Dewitt (if you say this quickly several times it tends to come out "How did he do it?) Favorite type of magic: I have mostly used hand magic as object lessons. Have done a few children's and youth events for church and hope to expand this area to include opther venues. Location: Bowling Green, KY Occupation: minister, retired public school teacher, part-time instructor in a junior college teaching "Strategies for Success". I use the hand magic sometimes to illustrate points in the college classes. How did you become interested in magic?: I purchased a book early in my ministry on magic for childrens sermons. I have used it off and on since, but have recently renewed my interest. How are you involved in magic now? I am presently using it as an evangelistic tool. As a part of this I am teaching specific magic tricks with evangelistic "patter" to my youth at church. I hope to begin marketing these shortly. The youth have readily accepted this as a means of reaching out to friends that they were afraid to witness to before. Hope to get to know all of you better through the MC.
I perform under the name Howdy D. Dewitt and am interested in gospel magic.

Wow 2 pages! It has been a real priviledge to meet so many of you this way! Still no other Gospel magicians from my region (Oregon,Washington,Idaho,Montana). I'm going to have to get on these guys when I am at our FCM regional conference March 31st, April 1&2. Did that sound like a commercial? It was! If you need any info give me a pm and I will get some to you! Check out the website at http://www.pnwfcm.org! It is put together by Steve Taylor (columnist in MUM) and I know many of you know him! If you haven't put your info here yet please do!
Thanks again for all the responses! Brett |

The Laflins are from Montana, and while they don't post here (They have some pretty busy schedules) You at least are in pretty tall cotton, when it comes to having notable Christian Magicians in your midst.

The Laflin's and I have been friends for a long time! I am spoiled by the fact that if they have anything I need I can order it and receive it the next day without special shipping!! Talk about a blessing from God! Their associate Doug Wathen (another great magician and all around good guy) will be at the FCM in Oregon as well!
Brett - Who loves living in Montana! |
