As of the publishing of "The Big Book of Freaks," little has been revealed about Mortado (The Crucified Man/The Human Fountain) beyond his 'surgically-executed uniqueness' and his performances.
The two big mysteries are his real identity, and what ever became of him. I suspect that there is an obscure coroner's report somewhere telling of a body brought in with age-old surgical holes bored through the hands and feet. Has any new information on this singularly unusual man since surfaced? Steve

I will have to ask Marie Roberts if she knows anything about Mortado. Marie's uncle was a talker at the Dreamland Sideshow where Mortado spent a couple of seasons. If I find out anything, I'll report it here.
