I believe that Teleportation of non-organic single atom material WILL be a reality in the not too distant future.
I don't think we will ever be able to transport organic material (especially living) without totally destroying it. I also don't think that we will be able to transport compounds without messing them up either. To re-assemble single atom material ie: gold, silver and other pure elements would be ultimately easier due to the fact that the sequence of reassembly would not have to be in any particular order as long as the substance is not made into a particular form. Example: A gold statue of Venus may just be a blob of gold after transport. A great security system could be developed so that if someone broke into a vault full of gold, the gold could be immediately transported to another secure location. Just my Whaco thoughts at play here. Iven

I like to think it will be posible in the future. I don't know how, yet, though. But think of it this way: Before the micro chip was invented, nobody could imagine hand held computers. Especially back in the days when computers filled up entire rooms! But now, in retrospect, we see how it is possible.
So, same thing applies here. Gotta keep an open mind and stay open to "possibility thinking" Who KNOWS what technology will be available two, three hundred years from now? I certainly don't! I once looked the subject up,and the scientist explained how mind blowingly super MASSIVE amounts of power would be needed to make this a reality. BUT, like I said, that only takes into account today's knowledge. As far as the people turning out to be a blob, well, that reminds me of an episode of Star Trek I saw where they had a transporter accident and the result was an inside out "blob" of tissue that had NO resemblance to the person it was before they were beamed. Yuk.

I know teleportation will be possible, I have seen the transporter with my own eyes. It was built at cal-tech, whre I was invited to a conference as a science teacher. Currently, it transports only photons, and only for a short distance. In the future ....
