As founder and manager of The Magic Café, it is a real pleasure and a great thrill to welcome our first GUEST OF HONOR for the new year, none other then David Williamson! Thanks for taking the time to be here Dave!
Though it's still a few hours until Dave's week starts here, I'm going to go ahead and open the forum a little early as I can imagine many of you are very anxious to get the topics started. Enjoy!

Hi Steve. Hi Jonathan. Where can I get a sandwich around here? ...and I'm not talking card tricks!
Happy New Year everyone. Allow me to kick this off with a question of my own...Is anyone else as intimidated by the internet as I am? It is so easy to be misunderstood via electronic communication - I'm not so good at it so forgive me if my post seem terse. I'm sure that by the end of the week I'll be an old pro like some of you. My speling could use sum werk 2. Where's that sandwich?! Dave |

Magicshift. Thanks for the question, but let me wipe my chin first...too much mayo, Michael-but delicious!
I'm not really a creative type like Paul Harris or Jay Sankey. Most of my stuff is offshoots of existing tricks. I don't stray too far from what has worked for others through the ages. Having said that, I sometimes get ideas in the shower (watch it!) also panic and fear are great motivaters. Years ago Pete Biro hired me for the IBM convention comedy club show I told him "I don't do stage" he replied "You've got a year." 364 days later I still had no idea what to do for the show which was the following evening! (this has become a theme with me) That night I had a dream. My wife woke me up and said I was laughing in my sleep. Thank goodness she did or I wouldn't have remembered it. The next day I performed "shorts changed" an effect in which the signed underwear of two young boys magically changed places. Later David Copperfield asked for permission to do the effect in his show. Of course, he uses two hot chicks! Why didn't I think of that? What kind of dreams was I having? Sorry to ramble. Hi Jim! I love your spider trick. I've scared the bejeezus out of lots of folks with that. Dave |

Whoops! I mis-read that post Ken. I thought you said I was lecturing in Detroit!! Scared the mayo out of me.
Wow, Jim I wish I could be there. Coming to Ohio? There's a group in Dayton that would love your stuff. What's a guy gotta do to get a frosty brew around here? |

Hi Dave I saw you perform at Blackpool convention a few years ago I see that you have changed the structure of torn and restored transpo slightly i.e. doing spin out move before the card that has been selected is retuned to pack,i actually thought it played really well,is this how you do the routine all the time now?

I just want to say thank you for reminding us that great hands does not mean that presentation needs to take a back seat! Ron |
