Well, what can I say that hasn't already been said about David. He is one of my two favorite Magicians. It is between Michael Weber and David Williamson. And I won't tell you who #1 is. Because I don't know myself.
I can say that as a performer no one can touch this man. He is in a class by himself. The neat part is how humble he is and how gracious he can be. You will never get the feeling that he thinks, he is better than anyone else. That, you cannot find much anymore. You could take all of his props and throw them out the window, put him on stage and say go. He, like no one else can improvise on the spot. There are countless stories about this topic. If you ever run into John Carney, Mike Caveney, Michael Weber, Johnny Gaughan, Jim Steinmeyer and many others, ask them. Anyway enough from me. I am welcoming the most amazing talent of the century to this forum. Give it to em Dave. Love you, Dean |

First - Happy New Year Everyone.
Second - I got so excited when I found out David Williamson was going to visit the Café, I almost wet myself. David Williamson is, in my anything but humble opinion, The Funnest Man in Magic. Mr. Williamson I'm look forward to the next few days. Ron Calhoun PS My two favorite Magicians are Dean Dill and David Williamson.

Hi Dave! Great to have you here. I've got some questions but I'll put them in other threads (not that there should be a shortage of!).
Your DVD's are my Pick of the Year!

Hi Dave, welcome to the Café'. I can tell you right away you have lots of fans over here in Sweden, that all are hoping you will visit here again sometime (last time was at El Duco's Magic Weekend).
Maybe I can wrestle your arm into comming here in 2006 at FISM. Just kidding, I asked you once in a PM, but its ok to dream I guess. Loved your DVD's by the way. PS Did you enjoyed your sandwich? Peo

Welcome Dave! The new "Magic Farm" DVD is my favorite of the year. Great routines (Funner Color Stunner, for example!) and the bonus footage is truly hilarious! (Those dancers!#$%!) I thought there was something wrong with the DVD at first when "500 miles" kept playing, but no... Now if I could just get that song out of my head. Really enjoyed the tour of the farm house, too!

Hey everyone, This is like a wake. Everyone is saying nice things but I'm not dead yet.
There are two great reasons for magicians to visit L.A. and the most important one is to visit Dean Dill's Shop and enjoy the company of the most gracious and talented guy in magicdom. You'll get a stylish haircut as well...for only $1.00! Thanks Dean. Eddie, I love to perform the memory test as well. It is one of my favorite tricks to do these days- I've been doing the routine for years, ever since a very clever magician first suggested the idea of aces and jokers, and coming full circle. I lost touch with him but toyed with the idea which evolved into the form that is on the DVD. I haven't been able to credit that magician properly...Until now! This is one reason the internet is so great. My waiter, Michael Baker is the man! he reminded me of our conversation years ago that led me to the Memory Test. An ironic name...'cause I forgot the inspiration. Well I think it is important to fully credit ideas when possible, for many reasons. I'm glad it is now possible to set it straight for this effect. So Michael, from now on I serve you! What'll it be? |

Thanks Robert,
I know what you mean about that song. Luis Dematos invited me over to Portugal to do some bits for his series. We had so much fun at the Lisbon FISM that he thought we could re-create "the magic" for his audiences. We hopped in a car with a camera crew and drove all over Portugal to mess with people. The schedule was insane, Luis was an evil task master...we got up at the crack of dawn and would shoot 'till dark. Then an all night editing session and up again after a couple hours sleep to do it all over again-for 7 days! We didn't really plan anything ahead of time-and it shows! Luis would stay out of the picture because he is such a big celebrity that people would mob him. But if we got in a jam or needed permission to do something dicey-he wouls appear and all doors would open. It was cool. One episode of "Where's Willy?" would run each week during his series. It's a bit much to take them in one after another. At the end of the series we did a "live" bit where I finally found the studio and came charging in through the studio audience with various people from my travels in tow. I have fond memories of the country and the fabulous people. Anyone who has met Luis knows what a fantastic person he is. |

Hi David,
I'm afraid I'm bit late with my greeting and of more importantly offering refreshments. Thanks to Michael Baker for taking care of this!! I'd leave him a TT for his superior service. The sub sandwich and beer looked much better than the marmite sandwich and camomile tea I was going to offer you. Glad you were taken care of and made to feel comfortable. You've already met and conversed with many of the friendly people at the Café. I know you're going to enjoy your stay. Glad to have you here! |

New year's Day and I am actually able to type - now THAT's magic! But it takes someone like David Williamson to bring that out in me.
Welcome to the Café, Maestro of Mania! Just out of curiosity, will you be coming through Chicago any time soon? Ohio is a bit far during this season of questionable weather (unless there's a paycheck in it for me to go there, of course! Loved WIlliamson's Wonders and I have shamelessly takes several of your ideas for my own cups routine and am still banging my forehead against the wall on a couple of other ideas in there in a vain effort to make them more my own. Your visit here is something I have looked forward to for some time. Lee Darrow, C.H.
