After lurking around, I see I'm not alone when it comes to musicians who are also into magic!
I am no means accomplished at magic, but I've always had it as a hobby, and am now getting more serious about it. I love good card tricks...especially non-gimmicked ones that cause great effects and reactions. Now if I can ever figure out a way to work magic into my lounge piano gigs, I'd be set. Anyway, greetings all! Looking forward to talking to and learning from those of you who are much more accomplished than I am. |

Hi Pianomagic,
Welcome to the Café. You're right, it seems many of the members have musical backgrounds. It may have something to do with the left hemisphere of the brain or something that controls creativity! I'm sure you'll be comfortable here and with 16,000 members from over 80 different countries, the Café is so friendly! Have fun! |

Hi Ryan,
I'm in western PA near Pittsburgh (GO STEELERS!!!). My wife has relatives in the eastern part of the state though, and every now and then we get out that way. |

Hi pianomagic!
I am not too far from you. Just over nextdoor in Ohio. I am also into music and have played drums for my whole life, bass guitar for about 10 years, and acoustic guitar for about 8 years. I am now trying to learn how to play blues harmonica, so if anyone plays harp and has some pointers, speak up! I stink at it. Good to see you here at the Café. You'll have a lot of fun here. Phil

Hey Pianomagic - I too used to be a pro. pianist and organist!! Spent years as a lounge pianist, plus small bands, organ backing cabaret etc. I transferred to kids entertaining 25 years ago! I went back into playing around 1990 and the late nights AND kids parties nearly killed me! Tell you something, when you are doing magic people actually recognise that you are THERE! - and not just a noise while they have their soup. Now play "Cavatina" again will you!! The kit behind me on the avatar. When I'd finished this party the drummer turned up, and yes, it was someone I'd worked with and not seen for ages.
Drop me a PM sometime. Tony. |

Welcome pianomagic.
I play piano and synthesizer. Mostly with my friends. Different types of entertainment and skills tend to group themselves together. I was on a synthesizer BBS and we had a few magicians who wrote their own background music. I'm a little Northeast of you about 10 miles up on the PA border in NY. Love the weather. Enjoy your time here. - Brian

I play the piano too.
Magic is doing improbable things with odd items that, under normal circumstances, would be unnessecary and quite often undesirable.
