I'm in Texas, we don't really have anything here but poker bikes and other random cartoon decks. I just ordered some from kardwell.com, hoping that they get here soon.

Cardjinx - where did you hear that xtremehandz is getting those card variants? Haven't seen any word of it on HL forums.

It's in the HL newzletter and I heard it from De' during the sunday chat.

Has anyone tried flourishing with a mini tiger? What's the finish like compared to a poker size bicycle? Just got my mini bikes delivered today, and I don't particularly like how they feel or look. White border's too thick, and the back is a little off-colour in my opinion.

I love doing boomerang card with minis! It's not much more difficult than doing it with normal poker cards. Seems to me that the stock on mini Tigers is slightly thinner than on regular minis, making the deck a bit more flexible and managable. I could be crazy though.

Kevin - you're using mini tigers? They're not air-cushioned, right?

kxxcheng, I would guess that mini tigers are like mini-bikes - have just the 'regular' plastic coating, not the air-cushion. but, they still fan alright (less surface area for friction), and they spin well.

I also began some individual card 'treatment' for backpalms, and it looks interesting. but it takes a bit of an edge off the impossibility of productions, since they're so small.

I got a freebie mini tiger during ellusionist's holiday thing. I haven't been tossing it around much, most of my experience with mini's is with normal bicycle mini's.

As for differences fanning the two, the tigers seem to have fewer gaps in the fan, and it is easier to consistently get nice fans with Tigers than regular minis. I still get decent fans out of both, just takes a little practice.

While the mini bikes don't indicate any particular finish, the mini tigers do say "Air Cushion Finish" on the side. Their number is also Poker 808-, not Miniature 404 as on a normal mini box. Both decks made in China. When I run my thumbs over the cards, the finish definitely feels different between decks.

The borders on the tigers are also not as wide as the ones on regular minis. The back color is almost exact to original with the tigers, but it doesn't look like they have the UV coating. I don't have a blacklight, so I can't put this theory to the test.

I find it almost impossible to Faro or Spring either deck, they're just so small!

I'm suprised to find this much difference between them. Thanks for making me take a closer look! Are they worth the $8 or so that Ellusionist wants? Not for me, but they certainly do seem to be of a little higher quality than normal minis, especially in the finish department, and I am noticing the difference in fanning the two now that I've played with them more. The Tigers really look like a shrunken Tiger deck, while regular minis do have their discrepancies. And oh yes, no red faces on these. All black/white. Hope this was helpful.

Forgot to mention the box! We know that the regular mini's have a box that's a little different in style than the normal poker bikes. This isn't the case with the Tigers. They took the normal Tiger box, and shrunk it. Flaps say the same stuff, etc. The only difference I see is that the mini's say "China" instead of "USA" after their respective "Made in".

Neat, I still don't think it's worth $8 a pop, but it's nice to know that the box is the same, and the border's smaller (a big gripe with the normal mini's).

One way to check whether it has 'air-cushion finish' is to look at it at an angle (to the light) and look for little square patterns. If it's just flat matte, then it's the garden variety plastic coat.

Btw, if you want to unload that mini-deck, lmk =)

I don't think my reply went through before, sorry if this is a double-post.

No little squares on the mini tigers, but I'm convinced the finish is different from normal minis. The feel is just too different. Maybe it's the black ink.

Thanks for your offer to take it off my hands, but I think I'll hang onto it for awhile.

Thanks for the detailed comparison Kevin. Don't think I'll buy any mini tigers for a while, but it's nice to know I can better quality minis if I ever need them. I'm still trying to properly break in my bike minis, they're very stiff.
