I have to agree with Brian, the price per performance using the refills is cheap. This is a great trick, use the routine from Martin's tape or develope your own. Either way it has great impact.

Greetings,
On a tirofoginc.com I read about the cardiographic improved. It says This NEW IMPROVED VERSION allows you to repeat the effect with a different card. Could that be possible? Does this version worth it to buy? I'm confused... |

I don't think the improved version is instantly repeatable, but yes, you can perform the same trick with a different card. It's not like a huge improvement ... I mean, it IS an improvement, but it's so simple that you wouldn't want to be extra for. I think they're all being made like this nowadays. Brian |

A friend of mine has gimmicked his pad to do 2 rises. He forces the ace of hearts then when card is called out 'mishears' the eight of hearts which rises from the pad. That is pushed back when pointed out and up rises the correct ace of hearts. It is a good gag that goes down well.

Very cool! That is great how you could make a second card rise out of the deck.
The best part of the effect is that you can rip it off and give the drawing to the person as a gift. Very well thought out trick! |

I have the Improved version and it's not instantly repeatable ... but still great.

I've seen Ed Alonzo's version. It's wonderful! I hope he offers it to the public so I can perform it.
Even though I can just build one from Martin Lewis' instructions, I'd really love to have the permission to use Ed's idea. |

Salazar,
I don't know if it is still available, but Ed did release his version of the effect a number of years ago. I believe I got mine from Steven's Magic Emporium. Check with them and see if they still carry it.

Refills must be purhased for this effect, as the pad is custom made. It's not a standard size pad that can be purchased in a stationery store. So, what size are your pads? |

Is the pad big enough for stage shows, and can a jumbo deck be used.

Am I supposed to believe that you had your own paper custom manufactured only because you couldn't find a good quantity of off-the-shelf paper which could be purchased by Joe Q. Magician? I'm sure that with those quantities, the Bienfang company would be only too happy to make you a killer deal that would easily beat the cost of having your own paper manufactured. Could it be, maybe, that you want to do like most auto manufacturers and FORCE people to come to you for expensive refills? Unbelievable! I'll add to the opinion that you should definitely BUY MARTIN'S INSTRUCTIONAL VIDEO. The Cardiographic is not hard to make. I buy my blank paper at Staples (Martin tells you exactly what type, weight, size, etc.). I can't imagine having to buy refills because someone came up with the clever (read- crooked) idea of manufacturing their own paper so that you'd have to get refills from them only. Martin freely gives all the info. on his video, and I can't imagine that he would want someone to corner the market this way. Get Martin's video and build your own, and PM me if you have any other questions. Phil |
