In another forum, talking about favorite force cards, I promised to explain why the seven of diamonds is my "signature" card.

About a dozen years ago, we were taking a few days off from the road, and making new friends at Abbott's Get-Together.
In the Legion, during a round-table session, we were entertained by a very charming little man named Mike O. He had great hands, and I still swear to this day - though some doubt me - that I watched him back-palm a dozen silver dollars and produce them one by one.
After the session, he got to talking shop with the husband, and chided him a bit for not knowing and using more sophisticated and challenging sleights. Husband stood firm on the notion that simpler moves do the job, as long as the presentation is engaging and entertaining. They agreed to disagree.

The next year, we planned to prove our point. Husband gave me info on a force card; I excused myself to the ladies' room and wrote the name of the card (a 7 and a diamond) in bright red lipstick on my -err- chest.
So it's our turn, and Husband tells Mike O that he's taken his advice to heart and learned a great new move. He forces and loses the card, then pretends to fumble the revelation. I walk over and stand on the other side of Mike, lean in, and unbutton my blouse. Mike is so focused on the cards that he doesn't notice.
But the rest of the front room in the Legion does, in a HUGE way, and begins to cheer and whistle. Mike is still focused on the cards, so I'm opening the blouse wider, husband is raising the deck higher and higher, getting closer to the "revelation area", and Mike still doesn't see what's going on. The others at the table are laughing hysterically; the Legion crowd is going nuts.
Finally, I have to grab Mike by the ears and turn him toward me. Being a gentleman, of course, he looks me in the eye. Someone at the table finally managed to say, "For heaven's sake, Mike, look at her t***s!" Poor man was completely speechless, and a lovely shade of scarlet.
Bows taken, blouse buttoned, and composure regained, Mike O conceded the point about presentation over techincal prowess.
The next day, Husband and I lost count of the number of 7Ds we were asked to autograph.

Mike O passed on a few years ago, and every year at Abbott's we drink a toast to "the man who could back-palm a dozen coins, but could never find the seven of diamonds".

Well, Laughing Otter, that explains why the fellows at the local club always speak so highly of Abbott's Get-Togethers. I guess my assumption that its a bunch of old guys was way off....
