It all depeds on what you want to acheive, and how you want to present the escape. Some glass tank escapes are covered, some not.
Personally I can't afford one, so I am building my own ghetto version of the milk can, using a wheelie bin. It should cost about £200 finished, with all locks, props etc. If it turns out on stage to be anywhere near as good as it looks in my head (the escape, not the bin) it will be worth 10 times what its costing. Its all down to your imagination. Cheers David

Be sure the glass is reinforced. and you have a emergency crew on hand.

Hi Don
The 'glass' part is not large enough to need reinforcement, its actually going to be perspex in any case. Gotcha on the emergency crew. You will be thinking that even more when its finished. This escape is going to be demonic! David

David what I mean by reinforced strong/thick enough for the glass. I've seen some glass where it is extremely thin. I'm thinking of maybe even tempered glass.

The flexing of the bin would not allow for glass to be used, so perspex is my only real option. In any case, I don't think the strength is a great issue with this, given the size of the window.
