Cheapest ot inexpensive? I pay $6 a month for mine. I believe you have to register your domain name seperate.
Your choices in life can be compared to watching a magic trick: You can continue to believe the illusion in front of you, find the intrigue and desire to learn more, or quit paying attention the moment you feel deceived.

As a webhost, I have on occasion helped several of our new hosting clients regain control over their domain name after unscrupulous web designers and/or hosts had "hijacked" those clients' domain names. It's best to purchase your domain name seperately, and not have the domain hosting tied in with your website hosting. Just my opinion, borne out by experience. You can get a domain name for as little as $7.00/year, possibly less, so it's not that great an expense.

Find a friend who enjoys doing this and you generally can't beat those prices.
First do what Mary B. said above, buy your own domain for 5 years ($95) Second, Point it to a friends hosting provider, if you find that friend. Don't expect the friend to do it for free, unless he is a really good friend, because it costs him about $1,200 a year to have a large hosting area. I host and maintain, two corporate sites, three magic organizations, 13 individual domains that belong to magicians, three domains belong to a close friend, and 10 of my domain names. So I do know a little about this. None of them use or have advertising banners. Lots of computer geeks in college do this for extra money. They even assist in developing the web pages. Seek out a community college, seek the computer teachers and ask if they know of any of their students who host websites. The Unix instructor would be the best instructor to do this. If necessary post a small flyer on the community bulletin board in the computer building. It is those young and up coming stars that taught me how to do it. We got to be friends by playing "Can you beat this" in class game. We would lock each other out of the system and we would have to hack the system to get back in. I won. I used their loggin and locked out the teacher. We all got 'A' for the course because of our knowledge of the unix system, but he put an end to that fun. You may find this will work fine for you. It's a cheap start-up, eventually, you will need a more professional hosting because the student graduates and may move on to bigger and better things. Cheap hosting sites do eventually fold for lack of business sense.

How about FREE hosting without banner advertising on your site?
I know this website does: http://www.doteasy.com They provide FREE web hosting without banner advertisement like tripod. But of course you have to buy a domain name which cost less than $10 (From GoDaddy.com or Registerfly.com) So what's the catch? They will put you in their newletter mailing list. As long as you host with them, you will have to receive their newsletter. The webspace and bandwidth is enough for most magicians here. 1GB bandwidth and 100MB webspace is definitely enough unless you want to run video streaming... Are they reliable? Well, I saw their website 4 years ago and they are still in business. My friend had his website hosted in doteasy.com and I have no problems visiting his website till now. That should speak well of it. If you STILL don't feel easy about free hosting and want to spend some money, I have a server... Host with me for $9.95. |

I'll host you for $100 a year. Flat. This is open to anyone, as I run a web design business, (www.christianpathway.com) and have my own servers.

The problem with freewebs is that you cannot host your own domain name and that is not professional enough.
Though I see that there is an option of transferring domain name... Come on! Web hosting is SO CHEAP these days. Just invest about $100 and you can get a decent web hosting with domain name for at least one year! |

Unfortunately 100 bucks is not cheap to me. I'm not really making any money doing magic yet, so my first investment will be in Jim Snack's "Success in Magic" course. That is an investment that will get a nice return from what I've heard. Right now, I'm just looking to make a website for free. When I get going in magic a little more, I will consider investing some cash. Thanks for the advice and I will definately look around.
