OK here's a short list off the top of my head:
Kristen Johnson
Cindini
Margarette
Lisa lady of locks
Sara Bigelow
Dorothy Dietrich
There are also several Lady magicians who perform escapes who may not necessarily consider themselves EAs like Jeff McBride's wife Abby Spinner.

Not nearly enough.. that's why some of us had to switch sides, to help make up the numbers! Smile

I'll add Morgan to AJ's list, any road.

You can add my wife Pat to that list. Although our primary focus is more on magic than escapes, she often performs a sack escape in our act and is privy to doing a lot more.

I don't know how real this was, after all, houdini was a huge gaff user, but Charlotte Pendragon once "Broke" a houdini record by jumping into a lake more or less covered with locks and chains. I've always wondered if they left the chains for Davy Jones or if they retrieved them later. If not, would it be worth a scuba dive to find the gaffing?

There was also:

Miss Undina, who tried to perform an Upside Down Water Torture Cell in Germany right after Houdini introduced his cell.
Then there was Miss Trixy, Wanda Timm, who Houdini trained to compete with Miss Undina with her own USD.
Also there was Miss Hilden, Hildegard Neureiter, from Germany who called herself "Escape Queen Miss Hilden".

Carnegie, you mentioned that Miss Undina 'tried' to perform the WTC, did she successfully do it?

She performed it, but Houdini had the act shut down via a lawsuit (Houdini had copyrighted the WTC act as a one-act play to thwart imitators).

I think I recall Princess Tenko performing the WTC on one of the Oulette specials, so there's another name for the list.

For Houdini, we've discussed him enough elsewhere.. he was a complex man whose character flaws were almost as fascinating as his strengths (both tended to manifest themselves in extremes), which is one of the reasons he's the legend he is. He was undoubtedly brilliant as an escape artist and self-publicist, his passion and competetiveness also made him a complete *** in his dealings with other performers who he saw as competition.

That said, I find it hard to blame him for doing what he could to protect his franchise on the WTC, being at it was at a time when trademark illusions were shamelessly pirated as a matter of course. He got similarly upset when he found out Horace Goldin (a man not exactly reknowned for his respect for other performers' intellectual property) had bought a milk can "for curiosity".
